Gaia Park
by Nick Blackwell, B.S. Arch ‘21, M.Arch ‘22 University at Buffalo
To create a healthy coexistence between humans and predator species such as Coyotes and Fox, we have to encourage natural food sources and also educate the community on responsible ways to live alongside these species. Less designing green spaces and parks for aesthetic and more about making them truly a natural element in the urban fabric. Gaia park re-establishes the urban life to the natural world and starts to help people understand and experience wildlife. Creating a relationship with the ecosystem that can impact human responsibilities. The green ways are elevated above the landscape, creating a responsible interaction with the local species. Artificial fox dens are placed and “hunting blind” style rest areas provide the opportunities for great viewing experiences that will last a lifetime.
